Around Palampur

Palampur is in Himachal Pradesh, one of the most diverse states in India. From towering Himalayan mountains in the East to beautiful rolling foothills in the south and wild pine forests, tranquil apple orchards and high altitude deserts, it has it all.

There are a whole host of adventure sports to do in fantastic surroundings from white water rafting to trekking and more relaxing activities like Buddhist meditation in the new home of the Dalai Lama: Dharamshala! There are incredible Buddhist temples and monasteries to visit in Lahaul and Spiti. Himachal Pradesh is a very popular place for people to visit in India and we know you will love it.

There are an abundance of temples, monasteries and palaces to visit around here. The best of these are:

Bir Billing – Famous for its Buddhist monasteries is 14kms away, you can also pick up fine Tibetan hand crafts here.

Chamunda Devi Temple : This is a holy place around 20 km from town. Thousands of devotees from all over India visit the temple and offer prayers at this shrine.

Baijnath - The Shiva temple at Baijnath 16kms from town is one of the most remarkable monuments of the Kangra valley. Legend has it that Ravana worshiped at this spot and gained immortality and there are fascinating sculptures that depict this.

Bundla river - is 2kms from town and provides a beautiful walk. In the monsoon season the river can become extremely violent and is an incredible site.

Shobha Singh's Art Gallery - It is situated in Andretta which is 13 kms from town. Here you can see him and his students making pots and even have a go yourself.
