Every GapGuru Global Semester is 100% carbon neutral. We work with industry professionals to measure our environmental footprint and offset it through verified projects that support reforestation and sustainability initiatives.

All GapGuru programs support the goals of our international development non-profit, the FutureSense Foundation. The Foundation works to support sustainable development in low-income, underserved rural communities—towards a Fairer World, where everyone has the opportunity to pursue a better future.

We work directly with local communities on initiatives identified by the community itself. This means:

Minimizing Our Impact

Travel has an environmental cost—and we don’t ignore that. Instead, we actively work to reduce and offset our impact through:

• Carbon-offset initiatives and tree-planting projects
• Encouraging low-impact, mindful travel habits
• Supporting eco-conscious accommodation and partners
• Promoting plastic reduction and responsible resource use
• Serving vegetarian meals at community hubs and project sites to reduce environmental impact and minimize the risk of food-related illness
